Interior decoration of residences is not only an art but also a science. In recent years, interior decoration of residences has emerged as a major industry in all the main cities of India. In fact, both exterior and interior designing of residences is gaining market potential. Institutes have grown up all around the world which research on interior designing of residences and impart training to people in order to produce designing potentials. If we talk about Mumbai, there are many qualified residential interior designers who are providing excellent service in the field of interior designing.

Today, almost everyone hires an interior designer to deck up their residence. In the high end residential projects, the developers hire reputed interior decorators to design the decor of the apartments. The interior decor of the apartments is considered a very high priority value of the properties. Needless to say, a project with well decorated apartments invites heavier investment from the public.

The success of the industry of the residential interior designing owes to certain trends the interior decorators follow. You can observe their pattern of work carefully and would be able to find out the trends. Here, we give three interior design trends making rounds in the market nowadays.

1. Greater emphasis on ergonomics

There is a misconception that interior designers only decorate a house. But, the truth is they lay as much importance to the convenience of people as much they do on the aesthetics. Here, you should understand that the convenience comes from the right implementation of the science of ergonomics. It refers to the arrangement of design of furniture and other items, such that they provide ease to the natural posture of man. For example, during a home interior design, if the designer is given a choice between an aesthetically unique piece of furniture which might cause back pain to the person sitting on it and a comparatively less aesthetic furniture ensuring right body posture when anybody sits on it, the designer will choose the latter.

2. The revival of ancient home designing methods

If you think interior designers follow modern trends of designing religiously, you might be unaware of the fact interior designers have started incorporating elements of ancient house designing techniques such as Vastu and Feng Shui in their designs. The ancient house designing traditions are believed to cause positive spiritual impact on the house. Needless to say, these claims are debatable in any philosophical discourse. However, most interior designers believe and it has also been observed in reality that these concepts have a psychological significance at subconscious level.

3. The use of themes

Interior decorators think of theme first and then lay all their designing ideas around that theme. A good home interior decoration theme should reflect the personality of the family.
