  Let me start by admitting that I don't like to brag much but I'm known in my circles (pretty extensive circles) as an aviation maniac. My whole family is somewhat related to planes, helicopters or aviation in general.

   Everybody knows that I'm also into computers ( ok ok computer games) and that's why I get a lot of friends asking me what is The Best Flight Simulator to play and learn - yes LEARN. Believe it or not You can actually learn a lot about flying planes from Flight Simulator.

   So without further ado here are top 3 PC Flight Simulators with my personal favorite (and most experts favorite) listed at the end.

 

1. Flight Gear

 

   This open-source flight simulator often called just “FSG” supports a variety of popular platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.). Developed by skilled volunteers from around the world with source code for the entire project available and licensed under the GNU General Public License.

   Is it a good Flight Simulator ? Yes ! It is. Is it The Best Flight Simulator ? No ! It’s not , but it's definitely The Best FREE Flight Simulator. The real flying junkies tough will rather invest in a better emulator. The reason is simple: the graphics are lacking and the amount of locations is limited. That’s enough for me to move on.

 

2. Microsoft Flight Simulator X

 

   This used to be my favorite Flight Simulator for almost 2 years and I count those years as wasted. What ? Why did I say that ? Let me elaborate on this little bit. Although Microsoft Flight Simulator X is much better than FSG and has lots of Flight controls and accessories available it’s not as versatile and feature rich (only 24 planes max and only 45 airports to land on) as my favorite and in my private opinion The Best Flight Simulator : Proflight Simulator.

   This is by far The Best Flight Simulator I have ever seen and is used by almost all of my pilot friends to play and teach. I need to admit I have wasted hours messing with it. You really can't beat it’s cockpit accuracy and the graphics are astonishing. You can fly over 120 planes and helicopters and land on over 20,000 real airports with changeable weather and NASA flight models.
