The Applications of Self Drilling Hollow Bolts System

by Simone S. sinorockco

Geotechnical anchoring is an important branch in the field of geotechnical engineering. The use of anchoring technology in geotechnical engineering can fully exert and improve the strength and stability of the rock and soil mass. Self-drilling hollow bolt, as a new type of high-efficiency supporting material in the field of geotechnical anchoring, has been widely used in various fields abroad. However, there are few domestic manufacturers of self-drilling hollow bolts, and even fewer are used. Today, Sinorock will introduce to you the application of self-drilling hollow bolts in different projects.

Slope Engineering

Transportation, water conservancy, hydropower, and urban geotechnical slope engineering, high slope protection with excavation height greater than 30m, especially for super-high slopes exceeding 100m, generally use high-strength self-drilling hollow bolts and full-length adhesives. The reinforcement method combined with knot bolts reinforces the system and local parts to maintain the stability of the slope.

Tunnels and Underground Works

In tunnel and underground cavern engineering, shotcrete support, namely self-drilling hollow bolts, system mortar bolts, and reinforced shotcrete reinforcement, has become a common method to maintain the stability of surrounding rock. This reinforcement method can effectively reduce the subsidence of the vault and the displacement of the sidewalls, ensure the stability of the cavern, and ensure the safety of personnel and property during construction.

Coal Mining Engineering

In coal mine construction, self-drilling hollow bolts or self-drilling hollow bolts and shotcrete support are mainly used to reinforce surrounding rock. According to statistics, about 5000km of roadways are supported by this method every year.

Foundation and Foundation Engineering

In urban foundation pits, self-drilling hollow bolts are also widely used as supporting structures for pile foundations. Usually, in foundation pit engineering, there are higher requirements for the ultimate pullout resistance and drilling depth of the bolt. The ultimate pullout resistance of the large-diameter self-drilling hollow bolt can be up to 1900kN, which can ensure the stability of the foundation pit and the safety of the superstructure.

Water conservancy and hydropower dam body engineering

In dam body engineering, the self-drilling hollow bolt is used to fasten the dam body and the bedrock, which can reinforce or heighten the dam body without interrupting the working condition, which greatly saves the construction cost. Because the dam is to resist flooding, the design tension value of the bolts used to strengthen the dam body is usually large. Among them, 29 of the bolts supporting the Shiquan Dam body have a design tensile value of 6000kN, and one bolt is as high as 8000kN.

Anti-floating project

In the basement anti-floating project, the self-drilling hollow bolt is used as the anti-floating bolt, which can improve the utilization rate of soil strength and the durability of the bolt. There are various types of anti-floating anchor rods, including centralized point arrangement, centralized linear arrangement, and planar uniform arrangement.
