THE AMAIZING AMABEERE GA NYINAMWIRU CAVES IN UGANDA
The caves are hidden away in Toro kingdom just 18kms from fort portal
Amabeere ga nyina mwiru means breasts of Nyina mwiru who was a daughter to king Bukuku. The Toro folklore has it that it acquired a name after king Bukuku of Toro chopped off his daughter’s breasts and through them in these caves following a prophesy that the daughter would one day get married and produce a son who would grow up, kill the king and take over his throne. According to legend the prophecy came true. But in reality the scientific explanation is that the so called breasts are stalactites made up of calcium carbonate when blended with water drip down and form stalactites that tourists see. The water that drips looks milky that’s what the local people call breast milky.
These caves are surrounded by three explosion crater lakes and a lovely water fall coming from the cliff of the caves which make the adventure more interesting and can be taken in on your way to queen Elizabeth national park
