The company just released its 2018 forecast—a prime indicator of what we'll be wearing, buying, eating, using, and doing next year. In terms of fashion, the top-10 trends poised to be big in 2018 include items we've seen on the runway (patent leather, Lucite), on the red carpet (side slits), on the street (logos, berets), and on each other (a return to classic blue jeans.) According to the brand, the data is mined from its 200 million monthly Pinners around the world, so yeah, it's a pretty good gauge of what the people want. Indeed, berets tend to have a certain smarminess to them; a symbolic cliché if there ever was one. But it seems the slouchy little hat is making a play for the fashion crowd, and Pinterest confirms this. Saves for "berets" are up 269 percent. Not sold? The bolder, the better. According to Pinterest, saves for “logos” are up 203 percent, with users wanting street-style inspiration that mixes brand iconography with elevated pieces.

Glitzy footwear will likely be everywhere come 2018; specifically shoes embellished with studs, pearls, and bold buckles.

Twenty seventeen was all about the fishnet sock, and next year is all about see-through socks that are meant to be seen with pumps, sneakers, or sandals. In fact, saves for “sheer socks” is up 72 percent.

Shelve the studs: People are obsessing over oversize hoops, structured metal earrings, and giant tassels, so expect to see them everywhere in 2018. (According to Pinterest, saves for “structured statement earrings” is up 947 percent).

Slits

Slit skirts are the obvious choice, but this year people are also into tunics and midi dresses with slits, as well as pants that show slivers of skin. Most of us are feeling the classic "side slit" with saves up 147 percent, according to Pinterest.

Plastics were all over the 2018 runways in the form of slick patent leather and transparent Lucite. Expect to see everything from boots to coats made from the shiny material come spring.

As far as denim has come, it seems we're ready to go back to basics in 2018 with 100 percent cotton, classic blue jeans. Think relaxed Levi's with a slightly high waist.
