Testing Mobile apps is not a Formality; it’s an Obligation of Software Testing Companies:
Most of the companies do not pay
heed towards quality assurance of mobile application it’s a notion. As far as I
have experienced that it depends on the project managers who are managing these
mobile
application testing projects. They
are just emphasizing on getting more and more testing projects and in this
endeavor losing the quality that is promised while getting projects.
The incompetent QA professional
who are not experienced in testing is employed for automation testing of mobile
app that is a risk and nothing else. The
mindset that is working behind all these practices is majority of the mop bile
apps works and if not then defects is a normal practice, not a big deal.
Another reason is that majority
of the mobile apps are not tested on different platforms and environments in
which they are supposed to be deployed, usability testing and beta testing of
mobile app is ignored hence restricting the scope of testing. Organizations do not focus on performance testing of
mobile apps.
"Where it is challenging to
replicate conditions mobile application users are likely to experience in the
field," said Matt Johnston, chief marketing officer for test service
provider uTest Inc.
The world Quality report demonstrate 2012-2013 Only 31% of
more than 1,500 global organizations surveyed conduct formal testing for mobile
applications, and the remaining one fails to meet the mobile application challenges and lacks the resources and tools required
for testing.
The author of this report Murat Aksu and Charlie Li mention
their remarks in executive summary.
"We believe that mobile testing needs to be a fully
integrated element of the QA [quality assurance] discipline, so that the mobile
strategy of the enterprise takes testing into account right from the
start."
Test case strategy plays a very vital role in mobile
application testing. The test cases
should be according to business requirements as these are the crucial for
business processes and transactions. For
performance testing, limited lab testing does not make a mobile app user
friendly, in this context Johnston said. "You need to place testers in the
field, not just the lab."
So mobile app testing
is challenging for testing organization. Testing is a liability on their part
to make it bug free that can contribute to its commercial success. The selection of right tools and drafting of
test cases according to business requirements and allocation of right resources
(QAs) leads to responsible mobile app testing this is the need of the hour.
