This is a huge American Athletic Conference (AAC) game with possibly big national college football  championship implications. If the Temple Owls, who are 6-0, can run the table this season and win all their remaining games they will almost certainly end up in the college football playoff in 2015. A loss to East Carolina would likely end all college football playoff hopes for Temple.

·         Temple +3 at East Carolina (O/U is 52)

Even though the Temple Owls are 6-0 and ranked #22 in the country and East Carolina is 4-3 and un-ranked, the Pirates are favored by three points over Temple at home. The Owls are 3-0 in conference play and sit on top of the AAC East by a game over East Carolina who is 2-1 in conference play. A Temple win would continue the Owls march towards the college football playoff.

If Temple can beat East Carolina their next opponent is #11 ranked Notre Dame whom Temple is playing at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Halloween Night. Temple already has a win over 5-2 Penn State out of the Big Ten this season and the Owls play 6-0 Memphis, who just beat Ole Miss out of the SEC last week, down the road. If Temple wins out including the AAC championship game they would be 13-0 with at least three quality wins. It would be hard to keep them out of the college football playoff with that resume.

East Carolina would love to do just that by beating Temple this week and tying them atop the AAC East. The Pirates have wins this season over Towson, SMU, Tulsa and Virginia Tech out of the ACC. East Carolina's losses are vs three quality teams in Florida, Navy and BYU. With just two wins to go to become bowl eligible it's almost a certainty that East Carolina will be in a bowl game this season.

Can Temple beat a very tough foe this week in East Carolina on the road and continue to keep their hopes alive of a perfect season and a berth in the 2015 college football playoff? Tune-in Thursday night on ESPN2 to find out.
