Teen battling brain cancer receives custom golf cart through Make-A-Wish

Family and friends surrounded Danny, a freshman at Cypress Bay High, as his new ride was revealed during an emotional Make-A-Wish event at the offices of Polen Capital in Boca Raton. Danny stood speechless with an ear-to-ear smile when the cover was ripped off the cart. He later said the cart was more than he had expected. "This is nice — this is very nice," he said. "I didn't expect a TV to be here and the lights — they glow in the dark." Danny is obsessed with the video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops," so when chosen to receive a wish, he asked for a Black Ops golf cart, said Elizabeth Erra, wish coordinator. (Emily Miller/Sun Sentinel) Because Danny is unable to ride a bike, the idea is that a golf cart will allow him to keep up with his friends around the neighborhood. 

Triad Golf Carts, a North Carolina-based company that's built carts for professional athletes and NASCAR drivers, designed Danny's one-of-a-kind cart. "This is the No. 1 cart to ever come out of our shop," owner David Parrish said. "We went to the extreme for this cart." A total of 95 hours went into the cart — compared to the 40 hours typically allocated for a job, Parrish said. The result is a $14,500 cart equipped with 14-inch transformer wheels, surround-sound stereo, LED underbody lighting, a lift kit, rear struts and an android car stereo. (Emily Miller/Sun Sentinel) Prominently displayed on the black matte exterior — as well as embroidered onto the black-and-red seat cushions — is the Adams family rallying cry #SireStrong, coined after Danny's nickname and unwavering strength. 

"When I hear it, it just gives me strength," Danny said. "I don't know how to explain it. It is great that if installing a car dvd player in your car."
