The new and updated seven-seater Tata Harrier was previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It has been one of the highly awaited models from the carmaker and will be launched in early 2020. Apart from the model expansion, reports say that new Harrier will replace Tata Hexa to meet the requirements of the BS-VI norms.

The reason for Hexa to discontinue is the diesel engine that does not make up to the norms of the Bharat Emission VI, rather, Tata is looking to upgrade the 2.2-litre diesel engine to meet the requirements of the commercial vehicles. According to Rajendra Petkar, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Motors, Tata has been manufacturing vehicles for the passenger as well as commercial operations, so if the 2.2-litre engine does not meet the requirements of the passenger vehicles, they will upgrade it for the use of commercial vehicles.

The seven-seater version of Harrier will be based on the Land Rover platform and will have a length of about 62mm. The BS-VI engine of the Harrier will comply with a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine generating 170Hp @ 350Nm of Torque. It will sport 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. So, it can be said, the new and upgraded Tata harrier will be a heavy SUV that will provide power, space, luxury, and safety.
