Switch Delhi: Tata Power-DDL To Provide Public Charging Stations In Its Licensed Area

by Mansi L. Be happy
Delhi has the worst ambient air quality and continues to rank among the top cities with the worst ambient air quality. In order to address the severe air pollution levels in Delhi, the government launched Switch Delhi Campaign with the aim to improve Delhi's air quality and create a smooth ecosystem for the new segment of vehicles.

The government of National Capital Territory launched this campaign in 2020 to make Delhi the EV capital of the country. Delhi EV policy is considered one of the most progressive policies across the globe. The government has offered subsidies on EVs worth Rs. 100 crore and has also waived off registration fee and road taxes.

The government has collaborated with several DISCOMs to launch a single-window facility for setting up of electric vehicle charging stations across the city. A consumer can avail three types of chargers under the single window facility from the vendor. The first is the Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) AC charger   primarily to be used for light EVs (two and three wheelers). The second is the AC001 charging standard also to be used in for two and three wheelers. While the third charger is the DC 001 which is to be used by the fleet operators.

A consumer can avail a charging point by visiting the Tata Power-DDL portal of which the installation will be completed within seven working days after the submission of the request. The government is aiming to achieve 25 per cent registrations of EVs among total vehicle registrations by 2024. To support the future of transport, Tata Power-DDL is rigorously supporting government in this initiative and will facilitate the establishment of Battery Swapping and Public Charging stations in its licensed area to promote the clean and green mode of transport.

Tata Power-DDL has always encouraged sustainable business models. The air quality in Delhi is an alarming concern and conventional vehicles being a major source of air pollution in the capital, Tata Power-DDL is supporting Delhi Governments vision of promoting electric vehicle adoption in order to reduce greenhouse gas emission and establishing Delhi as EV capital of India.
