Switch Delhi Campaign - Switch to EVs, avail Tata Power-DDL subsidy

by Mansi L. Be happy

The Government of National Capital Territory launched the Switch Delhi Campaign to educate the public of Delhi to switch from conventional vehicles to electric vehicles in order to reduce the air pollution levels.

The Switch Delhi Campaign was launched to create awareness among the citizens and to boost the sales of electric vehicles. In this regard, the Delhi EV policy is considered to be one of the most progressive policies globally as it is set with a vision to reduce Delhi’s vehicular pollution levels. The shift to zero-emission vehicles like EVs is an important step toward reducing tailpipe emissions in Delhi.

The current state government of Delhi is taking some progressive and innovative measures to transform the city’s transportation system. The Delhi EV policy is an important step in this direction. To restore the air quality and to refurbish the image, the government is aiming to have 1 out of every 4 vehicles be an EV by 2024.

Against the worsening air quality, the government has also urged several companies, food delivery aggregators, resident welfare associations, malls, and cinema halls to set up electric charging solutions at their premises to promote Delhi government electric vehicle policy. A push towards the growth of electric transport will have positive consequences on the environment. Hence, to switch towards EVs the government is providing subsidies for purchasing and using electric vehicles.
