India’s rich spirituality begins with Lord Ganesha Idol; softens the karma and guides dharma. Ganesha reigns over our beginnings, our changes, earthly decisions, and problems. This wonderful Hindu deity is the one closest to the material plane of consciousness, most easily contacted and most able to assist us in our day-to-day life and concerns. The superfine carvings of this brass sculpture form a realistic expression of Lord Ganesha’s divine personality. He sits in his usual posture on a unique floral carved hexagonal platform which is kept on a stylized chowki, designed with lion paws as its legs and an amazing floral brooch highlights the center. Ganesha’s vahana, Mooshakraj sits in reverence on the chowki along with the coconut Kalash on the other end as one of his ritual worship requirements.

The beauteous etchings of circular vines and cloud patterns on the entire dhoti and stole reflect the sculptor’s art for perfection. As you look at the rear image, the assumed alternate layers of the bareback in the center and supremely carved sides of stole and dhoti on top and bottom respectively is a wonderful sight to watch. The large protruding belly is ornamented with a serpent in the center and the long necklace pendant placed just above his navel. Zoom in to appreciate the minute details of the fine lines on fingers, sacred symbol of Om on the forehead, and the wondrous vertical carves on modak which the sculptor has keenly focused on. He carries his usual implements of axe and noose in his rear hands, broken tusk and modak in the front hands.

Ganesha’s love for sweets can be avowed from the smooth curve of his lotus chiseled trunk, which can’t resist smelling the sweet fragrance of his favorite modak. The shape of his large ears resembles that of a winnow with the rays emerging out from it symbolic of his cosmic presence in all directions. Focus on the symmetry of curved vertical lines of his crown, that join together to form a temple pattern along with an aureole chiseled in beauteous and dense floral design. This Ganesha Brass Sculpture can be a wonderful decoration to your house or office space.
