Going on a camp is an interesting thing for all, especially for children. If your kids are going on a camp, you will be hearing loads of excited shouts and noises from them.  With the summers just around the corner, it is important for you to know more about the summer camp tips that can keep your child hale and healthy at the same time. As a responsible parent it is essential for you to educate your kid about a few things that they need to remember to stay healthy when hitting the camp this summer. Though camps can offer lot of entertainment, it can pave way for several illnesses and infections if there is no proper care from your kid’s side. Read on to know more about these tips.

Tip 1: stay hydrated

Staying well hydrated is very important as the hot sun would sweat it out and deprive the kid’s body of its water level. Kids can be playful and hence will forget to take a regular sip of water when under the hot sun. This is an effective tip to beat the summer heat and to stay ell hydrated as it would help them stay energetic. Make sure you tell them to practice this habit before they head away to the camp.

Tip 2: personal items must not be shared

Your kids must be taught the risks that would occur if they share personal items in a camp. This can be clothes, toiletry items and other grooming products. Tell your child that combs or hair brushes, tooth brushes must not be shared with other kids. This is helpful to prevent lice in the head or a bad hygiene condition among the kids. You must also warn your kids to prevent sharing the shoes as it would help them to prevent infections such as common cold, fever, foot infections from passing from others.

Tip 3: Use protective clothes

You must make sure that you offer many clothes that are protective in nature while packing for camp. You can pack many light material clothes in light colors to help them cope up with dry conditions of summer. If your kid is very sensitive to the hot sun, you can find clothes with UV protection. Do not forget to pack jeans, khakhis, wide brimmed hats, coolers and sun glasses as it would be helpful for them to hike in natural surroundings.

Tip 4: Insect repellant usage

Make sure to pack insect repellant creams or sprays that are safe for kids or have special formulation for kids to help them stay safe while trekking during the summer or while walking through areas with thick vegetation. You can ask them to use an insecticide that has DEET or permerthrin on their clothes as it would not enter the skin and can any side effects or skin rashes. Make sure that the camp site is free from bugs or spiders as some kids can have a serious reaction towards it.
