Why do we get Angry?

All of us have experience anger at some point in our lives. Anger is a normal human reaction to any perceived threat and can vary from mild annoyance to full-fledged fury or rage. As with any intense negative emotion, anger is associated with a host of negative side-effects.

When you get angry, your heart rate, pulse rate and blood pressure to increase and there is often a sharp spike in adrenaline and hormones. The anger you experience could be triggered by people, current events or memories of past events. For example, you could be angry at your boss or at the weather or at some unpleasant event that occurred in the distant past.

The problem with anger is that it automatically triggers aggressive reactions like raising your voice, throwing things, gesticulating violently or in extreme cases, physically lashing out at another person. Oftentimes, your mental conditioning may be forcing you to keep your emotions bottled up. Letting your anger simmer inside eventually leads to an uncontrolled outburst of repressed feelings. 

It’s not always necessary that anger is expressed through violent outbursts. People who are constantly critical by nature, vindictive or repressed also have unresolved anger issues that need to be addressed.
