Steel Plant Recruitment: The Business Is As Usual Again

by David Mora Excutive

The total world crude steel production is on a high at 1530 Million Tons. There have been massive increases in world steel trade in products, in the span of four decades. The statistics of finished steel products, exports, imports, production, etc. are overwhelming. Despite a slump for a period in the last couple of years, the industry has been thriving significantly and improving itself with the latest range of technologies, which basically focuses on eco-efficient production and recovery, steel material’s reuse and recycling, technology breakthroughs, health, and safety.

Except for a few issues in the steel industry, the rest factors are energizing enough. There’s no doubt that the business is as usual again. Certainly, the scenario that had dimmed a little bit in the recent past will witness a significant change in the future. Meanwhile, the candidates interested in this sector should become hopeful once again for the opportunities awaiting them. Currently, several plants have implemented modernization, which includes the Rourkela Steel Plant and other plants in India. It’s true that the economic indicators foretold a slump the industry is going to witness due to several factors, both in India and abroad.

In India, the leading steel companies like JSW, ArcelorMittal, RINL, and others are in for participation in mega steel production projects. Their expansion and modernization predict great news for the industry and the candidates willing to join in the sector. In fact, some of these companies have mulled new recruitment policies for addressing employment in this sector.

Recruiter’s Role in today’s scenario

Even the largest steelmakers in the world need efficient steel plant recruitment services from professional companies. While some recruiters are finding grounds to settle, a fair few of recruiters have already outdone themselves in this sector.

As of now, the problem doesn’t lie with a spectacular network of candidates. No, it isn’t. Any recruitment firm can claim a huge network of candidates, but theirs isn’t a relevant network. Since the employers demand candidates who can work in challenging conditions and meet industrial requirements, the ability to provide the same should be there with the recruiters.

Modern methods of recruitment

Traditionally, the recruiters pursued various methods to attract candidates for a position, talk to them, and engage them in the recruitment process. However, the times have changed. It needs a modern approach to understand a candidate’s interests and match it with that of the employers. If there are stark differences between the candidate’s expectation and employers offering, then there is a higher chance of fallout.

Recently, the recruiters have chosen an unorthodox way of sourcing candidates via social networking sites. One shouldn’t be surprised because many industry giants in different sectors have hired candidates by offering lucrative packages via social media. Therefore, it’s necessary that recruitment firms adapt themselves to modern forms of recruitment and compete with their rivals.

For candidates, it is important to have relevant knowledge and skills in the area. The engineering graduates can look forward to internships and special courses for prepping for a vacancy in the steelmaking companies.
