The SSC CGL Exams is the staff selection commission exams conducted by the Government. These exams are conducted to recruit staff at various ministries and government related offices. This is one of the most competitive exams and this is the most chosen path to get the best position in government jobs. This time in 2016 the exam will be conducted on 8th and 22nd May, 2016. As per the government guidelines there are certain age criteria to appear for these exams.

The details of the same are given below:

  • Statistical Investigator Gr II : Max 32 years
  • Assistant Section Officer/SI in CBI : 20 - 30 years
  • Assistant in IB: 21 - 27 years
  • Assistant Enforcement Officer/SI in NIA/Asst Audit Officer : Max : 30 years
  • SI in Central Bureau of Narcotics: 18 - 25 years
  • Tax Assistant CBEC : 20 – 27 Years 
  • All Other posts : 18 - 27 years

The above mentioned criteria are decided by the government for the maximum and minimum age criteria for each position. As per the government rules there are also some age relaxations provided. The details of the same are mentioned below:

  • SC/ST – the relaxation in age is till five years
  • OBC – The relaxation of age provided is 3 years
  • PH – The relaxation is 10 years
  • PH+OBC – The relaxation is 13 years
  • PH+SC/ST – The relaxation is 15 years
  • Ex-service man (OBC) – 6 years (3+3) after the deduction of the service provided to Military from the actual age as on the closing date of the application
  • Ex-service man (SC/ST) – 8 years (3+5) after the deduction of the service provided to Military from the actual age as on the closing date of the application
  • Central Government civilian (OBC) – 8 years who have given not less than 3 years service from the actual age as on the closing date of the application
  • Central Government civilian (SC/ST)- 10 years who have given not less than 3 years service from the actual age as on the closing date of the application
