Some Unique Pillows And What They Are Used For
For a person a good night’s sleep is absolutely
incomplete without a mattress which is comfortable and a pillow as an
accompaniment. This also means that people generally tend to stick to pillows
which they feel are comfortable for them. But today with pillow-making becoming
much more innovative and diverse, it makes better sense to opt for a pillow
which is most suitable. For example if one suffers from a neck problem, it is
always better to discard the old pillow and buy a cervical
neck pillow online.
Some extra-ordinary materials which are being
used to make pillows are:
·
Organic materials: These are especially used to make body
pillows which help provide the required support to the whole body. While this
type of pillow becomes a mandatory accessory for pregnant women, today people
have also started to use it otherwise, just for the comfort that it provides.
Some of the organic fillings used to make these organic
bed pillows are buckwheat, cotton, wool, millet, kapok etc.
·
Hollow fill: Pillows made from this man-made microfiber or hollowfibre filling
are generally simple in their construction with a cotton slip covering its
outside. The uniqueness of the hollow fill pillow lies in the trapped air
present in the hollow filling which makes it very light but extremely warm.
·
Organic wool: Pillows made with organic wool as its filling
has several advantages. It is able to resist dust mites and is also unaffected
by body moisture. In fact the biggest advantage of using an organic
wool pillow is that it helps to regulate the body temperature thereby
providing a much more natural environment for a person to sleep in.
·
Down pillow: These are made with a filling of down feathers which are
typically feathers found closest to the bird’s skin especially near its chest.
These feathers usually come from the duck, swan or goose and pillows made this
filling tend to have great insulating properties and are also lightweight and
soft.
·
Gel pillow: Also known as the aloe vera
pillow, these gel
pillows work in a way similar to the water pillow. The gel filling prevents the
flattening of the pillow and at the same time it can be contoured or re-shaped,
if required. They also provide a cool sleeping surface and also act as a
pressure reliever.
·
Water pillow: As the name suggests, these pillows are
filled with water and thus get contoured to the shape of the neck and head
providing a firm support to the concerned areas.
·
Memory foam: These pillows are ideal as cervical neck support pillow since
they are able to contour themselves to the shape of the neck and head while one
sleeps. Thus these polyurethane filled pillows help to align the neck with the
spine thereby reducing uncomfortable neck aches and ensuring that the person
using it gets a good night’s sleep.
Today organic throw pillows are also being
extensively used both for its decorative and practical value. The fact that
they provide welcoming warmth to the room and are also elegant to look at,
provides ample reasons for its growing popularity.
