Some Tips to Maintain your Rose Garden

There are thousands of varieties of flowers, and amongst all, roses are the most commonly used flowers. Flowers are an important part of our lives. They have been used as gifts since ages. Many women use them to decorate their houses or some just like to plant them in their backyard. There are many places in India, that even host rose festival. One such city is Chandigarh. Maintaining a rose garden is not a difficult task. All it requires is some watering and pruning on regular basis. Taking out some time everyday will help the rose bushes to bloom and keep away any kind of diseases or pests. Hence, before planting roses, there are some important things that should be kept in mind that would help your flowers look healthy and beautiful.

·         The first and foremost step of gardening is to buy sturdy pair of gloves. They will keep you away from getting hurt from the thorns. Also, buy a small handy pair of pruning shears. They should be sharp enough and easy to use. Purchasing a small step stool would also be a good idea, as you might have to lean sometimes, and it would prevent your back getting hurt.

 Once you are ready with your gardening gear, it is time to prune your roses. In order to do so, start with plucking any dead leaves, flowers or weeds that may have stuck around the bush. The process should start from the roots to the bush. Take out your tools and start removing any debris that is accumulated near your flowers, as it may be hindering growth of new flowers from the roots. Also, cut all the dead stems. To know if the stem is dead or not, try to pinch the stalk of the stem. Pinching the stem would tell you if the stem is still alive or dead. When you are making any kind of cuts, make sure they are small, else larger cuts would let bacteria’s to seep in.

  After pruning your roses, the next step would be look for buds that are facing outwards. These outward direction buds would let the plant to steer in the outward direction. Try and make a cut just above the bud and then move it around the bush.
