Some Steps Involved In The Process Of Shower Regrouting
by Andrew Lope Business promotionIt is basically the tiles that transform the looks of a bathroom
area and make is look grander, more spacious and attractive. These tiles are
supported by grout, but the problem with both these things is that because of
close contact with water and other elements like moisture, soap, etc., they
become dirty. When this happens around the shower area, not only that area
starts looking dirty, but at the same time, it becomes vulnerable to damages
and water leakage as well. Therefore, timely shower waterproofing regrouting services
from the experts become mandatory to that mainly involves removing the old
grout to apply the new one and transform the looks of the area. Here in this
article, we take a look at the steps that shower regrouting experts would take
to remove the old grout and replace it with a new one.
Step – 1
Removing Old Grout
In the first step of their task, the experts will set the area
free from old and worn out caulk and grout and for this, they will use a plain
old razor blade scraper tool.
In some cases, where grout and caulk is too hard to remove, they
will acetone as it is known to soften these things like grout and caulk.
According to them, the shower grout is dug at least 1/8th
on an inch deep to make sure that the entire grout is removed in just one
stroke of the grout removal blade.
This step will set the entire shower area free from old grout, but
at the same time, it is recommended not to apply new grout straight over the
area.
This when done, is given the name of skim coating grout and this
is a very bad practice according to shower regrouting experts. The reason cited
by the experts is that doing this will not let the new grout to stick to the
area properly and as a result, in some days time, it will start flaking or
chipping away.
Step – 2
The Drying Process
Once the grout has been removed satisfactorily, the next step
involves letting the area dry totally to ensure that new grout would stick
properly. This means that once the grout has been removed, you’ll have to leave
the area totally unused for some days. Some experts even recommend using a table
fan to let the area dry completely so the upcoming grout can set in the area
without any problem.
This drying of the area around the shower is recommended for one
more reason, i.e. giving sufficient time so the mould, etc. could dry and die.
Step – 3
Grout Application
In their shower regrouting services, these shower regrouting experts
will use only dry, powdered cement based grout for your new grout. In the
beginning, they will mix the grout to a peanut butter consistency and then,
follow manufacturer’s instructions related to shower regrouting. The
consistency of the grout is something that they stay very particular about
because watery grout will not set properly and will be weak, soft grout that
will not last for a long period of time.
As a part of the process of shower regrouting, they will force the
grout deep into all of the grout lines to ensure that there is good coverage of
grout in all of the grout lines.
