Some common asthma triggers in children

by Nikki John Executive
There are various diseases that attack both children as well as adults and hence for the same reason it is imperative to take care of your health in the most appropriate manner despite of your age. However, in most of the cases, conditions get quite worse for the children such as passive smoking can be one of those factors that induce asthma in children. Therefore it is recommended to keep a check on these kinds of factors and avoid your children from such diseases that can become a real cause for worriedness in the long term. However, if children suffer from this chronic illness, their parents always live in the fear that their children would not be able to get the inhaler during an asthma attack. Therefore, it is important for them to be well aware of all the possible triggers to which their child is susceptible.

A few common asthma triggers in children are the following:

Common cold – cold is a respiratory infection that often triggers asthma attack in children. It is really quite difficult for the children to confront such minor health disorders such as cough, cold, sneezing and congestion along with asthma.

Smoke – asthmatics do understand that smoking would worsen this disorder more, but passive smoking is more harmful than active smoking and hence for the same reason parents need to make their children aware of this fact that can create the same impact as active smokers.

Medications such as aspirin – there are certain medications that should only be taken after consulting your physician. Aspirin is a medicine that can send an asthmatic into a severe attack. Asthmatic should be careful with the intake of any kind of medicines and it is recommended that such patients should conduct their doctors during any additional illness they might suffer from.

Cooking fumes – while many of us enjoy going to a kitchen that is filled with cooking fumes, but with asthmatics the case is entirely different. The smell of certain foods can trigger an asthma attack, but since children suffering from asthma are not aware about the triggers, it is recommended to keep them away from kitchen fumes.

Apart from the above mentioned triggers, there is a countless list of other triggers that can worsen the condition in children. If you talk about the medicines of asthma, as such there are not any specific medicines that can cure asthma, but can prevent the symptoms to occur.
