Solar Energy in India – Benefits and Future

by Diksha Sharma Blogger and writer

India has gone under some significant developments in the past few years and is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With the expansion of population in the country, the consumption of electricity has also increased. More than 70% of India’s population lives in villages where electricity supply is meager.

Due to the increase in the use of electricity, we are falling short of it. The government is trying to keep up with the demands but is unsuccessful. So, to fulfill the requirements, there is an urgent need to utilise solar energy.

Scope of solar energy in India is increasing rapidly, due to the several benefits it offers. Let us look at some points as to why solar energy is a blessing:

Renewable Energy

Solar energy is a renewable energy resource that is inexhaustible and sustainable. We can never run out of it. Experts say that the sunlight is available to us for at least five more billion years. So as long as we have sun, we can have solar energy.

It is also safe for the environment as it does not cause any air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution or emit any greenhouse gases.

Low Costs Involved

The cost of solar power has dropped in recent years. People can make a smart investment by retrofitting with solar panels. These panels require almost no maintenance. It just needs to be clean a couple of times per year. It doesn’t have a lot of moving parts, and that is why there is no wear and tear.

Reduction in Electricity Bills

In India, the price of electricity has been rapidly increasing in the past few years due to an increase in demand. Installing solar panels can be a cheap way of producing electricity. The return on investment can be calculated easily as many solar panel suppliers like MySun have solar calculators, which tells how much power we will save, and after how much time the amount the investment be regained.

Versatility

The uses of solar energy in India are many. For instance, in homes or offices, electricity can be produced using small solar electric or PV system. Solar water heater, outdoor solar lights, and solar cookers can also be used to attain economic benefits.

Can fulfil the high demand

With the development in technology, the solar power industry will also grow, and with the use of advanced technology, the effectiveness of solar panels will increase, which will eventually fulfil the high demand for electricity.

Owing to future plans pertaining to solar energy, there is tremendous scope for solar power expansion. These projects not only fulfil the demand but also contribute primarily to Green Energy Production. Solar energy is the present and the future, and it is the cleanest and the most abundant source of energy that we can obtain.
