Slow and Steady Revival of Prescot, the Oldest Settlement in the County

by Mark Stud Marketing manager
Situated in the metropolitan county of Merseyside, England, and not too far from Liverpool, Prescot is one of the oldest settlements in this county.  The well-preserved timber-framed buildings and Victorian and Georgian houses are a testimony to this.  It is now an upcoming town though with plenty of new shops, homes, and houses for sale in Prescot.  The permanent exhibition at Prescot Museum calls to mind the thriving clock and watch making factories that once existed there.  Prescot is now going through a revival with high-quality cafes and business outlets coming up.  This also heralds a boom in the café culture in Prescot with acoustic and comedy nights being introduced in certain cafés in Eccleston Street.  The new theatre in Prescot which is a replica of Inigo Jones’ cockpit design also harks back to the Elizabethan Prescot Playhouse that once existed there.

Restoration and Reinstatement at Prescot

There is also an attempt to restore historic buildings through the Prescot Townscape Heritage project.  The shop fronts of traditional buildings are also being reinstated as a part of this project.  The green signal has been given to restore the historic St. Mary’s churchyard and cemetery.  The setting up of the Shakespearean Theatre and college in Prescot has given a boost to economic development here.  In fact, Lord Derby of Prescot was one of the patrons of the playwright.  The Liverpool John Moores University is also offering a master’s degree in Shakespearean technique to students who study at this state-of-the-art college.  The information about Prescot’s role in England’s theatrical history has attracted theatre companies to this town.  These companies have attempted to bring classic stories alive by staging plays using elite professionals along with the local community.  It is due to all these developments that house for sale in Prescot are increasingly being snapped up.

New Developments Encouraging New Investors

Some of the houses for sale in Prescot are in new developments on the outskirts of this town.  These developments are strategically located close to the M57 which makes it possible for residents to easily access the motorway network and reach bigger towns such as Liverpool fairly quickly.  Manchester is also only an hour away by road.  Families living in Prescot are able to enjoy all the comfort and cosiness of a small town while at the same time having access to the job opportunities and amenities of big cities such as Liverpool and Manchester.  The estate of Lord Derby and the Knowsley Safari Park offer people opportunities for family outings.  In fact, the Safari Park was one of the most visited areas in this region during the last year.  The Stadt Moers Park also gives fitness enthusiasts opportunities for cycling, cross country runs, and fishing.

A Thriving Real Estate Market at Prescot

The houses for sale in Prescot are strategically located close to train stations and airports.  There are Catholic and public schools too, close enough for young families with children.  The revival of Prescot is what is attracting new investors and families into this area.  New supermarkets are coexisting along with traditional markets and the arts and crafts fair monthly are all new and interesting developments in this town.  The real estate market in Prescot is thriving now and the prices of houses are slowly rising which is why investments must be made now before prices go north.  Properties can be bought as leasehold or freehold.  Freehold properties allow buyers to become absolute owners of the property as well as the house without the need to pay any ground rent thereafter.  Leasehold houses are given on lease for 999-year leases with a fixed ground rent to be paid every year.
