Image If you have recently purchased a hot tub, you might be worried about taking good care of it in order to keep it safe and durable. Many times, due to some misuse or ignored aspect, owners need to opt for a Jacuzzi hot tub replacement much before than anticipated. Right from managing the water in the tub to buying the right cover and keeping it closed at all times when not in use, there are many things you can do to enhance the life and function of your hot tub.

Read on to get some simple tips about caring for your hot tub!

Sanitizing All the Way

Your hot tub is more like a swimming pool and less like your bath tub. This means that you can’t drain the water after every use like you do in your bath tub. Once you are done with bathing in the Jacuzzi, you need to leave the water and reuse it again, like you would in a swimming pool. Thus, you must use a sanitizer to keep the water clean. But since the water in your hot tub is less than a pool, you won’t need as much sanitizer. Two of the most popular sanitizers for hot tubs include chlorine and bromine. Bromine is less harsh on the skin and does not have a strong smell like chlorine. It is also available in a tablet form that can be just placed in the tub and it dissolves slowly, using a floating brominator.

Testing the Waters

You must regularly test the waters in your spas and hot tubs on a regular basis. You can do so by testing the level of chemicals in the water so that you know how much chemical to add. When chemicals are added from time to time, you are actually balancing the water levels. Conduct a pH level test to check the acidity of the water. A neutral pH level 7 is ideal as anything below this will be too acidic and can cause corrosion to the plumbing systems.

Schedule Your Water Maintenance

If you follow a regular maintenance system for your hot tub waters, you won’t have to worry about a Jacuzzi hot tub replacement for a long time. To begin with, remember to check your filters on a weekly basis. Usually, if you cover your Jacuzzi with a good quality cover, there won’t be a chance of clogging and having debris in the filters. However, checking it regularly will keep the filters clean, and thus, regulate maximum flow of water and put less stress on the pump. Even though you might do your best to keep the water clean in your tub, after a while the water wears out. It is best to replace the entire water in the tub with new water every two to three months.

Read your owner’s manual to know more about your Jacuzzi’s maintenance and make sure you follow these simple tips to keep your Jacuzzi and its water in excellent condition.
