Signs Your Sewer is Blocked
by Robert Johnson Blogs on Latest NewsIf you think your sewer is blocked but aren't sure,
here is a shortlist and explanation of how to tell if your sewer is blocked.
You may need emergency
plumbers to come out to your home as quickly as possible and fix the
problems before it gets worse.
It isn't unusual for one drain in a home to be clogged,
but having more than one drain clogged is not standard. When this occurs, it's
often a sign that something is backed up in your sewer line.
When using your plumbing, and water is backing up in
drains that you don't typically use is another sure sign of a sewer line
problem. Also, if you hear gurgling in the tub or sink when you flush the
toilet? This is also a sign that the sewer line is blocked.
Bubbles occur when water attempts to pass a clog in your
sewer line. So if you get many bubbles whenever you flush your toilet or drain
the sink, you may have a severe problem with the sewer lines.
The washing machine is another sign of a clogged sewer.
When your washing machine drains, does it cause the toilet to overflow or back
up? If you answer yes, this means your sewer is plugged. However, suppose your
toiles are still flushing naturally. In that case, this particular problem
could be in the washing machine drain and have nothing to do with the sewer
pipe.
If your toilet doesn't flush naturally and using a plunger
isn't helping. This could be another sign that your sewer line is clogged.
Probably the quickest way to tell if you have a sewer line
clog is the smell. When you smell an unusual odor that smells like rotten
trash, and it's coming from your sinks, you have a backed-up sewer.
