Food industries like food, a tissue paper acts like a god. It doesn’t matter where are you eating, at home, or in a restaurant, tissue paper is the first thing you look for when your food drops or your hands get messy. And of course when your phone rings in the middle of a meal. And besides being used for food, there are facial tissues, toilet tissues, and more. Each tissue comes to the market after getting tested with equipment, for example, a tissue paper testing machine, etc.

What’s more intriguing about this paper is that it is so different from other types of papers. Thanks to its properties that set it apart from them. What are those properties though? Jump to the following section to know.

Significant Properties Of A Tissue Paper

  1. The Power To Absorb

The absorbency of tissue paper is often defined by its roughness. The rougher the tissue paper is the more its absorbency, and if the tissue paper is soft, its absorbency will be lower. This is the reason why tissues used in restaurants are rougher and thicker than those used for other purposes. They are therefore more absorbent than others.

  1. Light Basis Weight

The term basis weight is jargon in the paper and fabric industry. It refers to the amount of mass per unit area. In the paper industry, it refers to the weight of the sheet of paper based on the standard size.

The basis weight of tissue paper is the weight for a particular number (mostly 480 sheets) of sheets. This makes it a lot lighter than other types of paper.

  1. Thickness

The thickness of a tissue paper could not be known just like that. Hence it is usually measured on a paper thickness micrometer gauge by manufacturers. Equipment like these quickly measures the thickness of tissue paper, paper, cardboard, and even plastics.

  1. Brightness

While manufacturing tissue paper, there are certain guidelines and standards that need to be met. The brightness of tissue is therefore measured along with color in lighting conditions both indoors and outdoors.

This must be noted that the standards for the brightness of different types of tissue paper will be different. For example, the brightness standards of 1 ply tissue paper will differ from 2 ply tissue paper.

  1. Stretchability

Crepe control is a significant process in the manufacturing of tissue paper that defines the stretchability of tissue paper. At first, the tissue paper sheet is stuck in the dryer and then compacted to make micro folds on the sheet. This process gives it the necessary stretch and even smoothness.

  1. Comfort

Tissue papers are designed keeping in mind specifically the comfort people expect from them. This property may not be a priority in other kinds of papers, such as a newspaper, paper of a book, etc.

Conclusion

UECIN has been a leading manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of paper, board, and packaging testing equipment. These also include tissue paper testing machines.  Hence, if you are a tissue paper manufacturer, send in your inquiries to know more about these equipments.
