Impact, Scuff, Puncture & Vibration Tests For Packaging Materials
by Universal Engineering Corporation Suppliers Of Precision Testing Instruments in SahaWhen it comes to evaluating paper packaging materials, manufacturers conduct several tests. From testing the compression strength to folding endurance, drop, abrasion, scuff, impact, and whatnot, package testing from all angles and for all factors has become inevitable. In this article, we are going to throw light on some of the most commonly preferred packaging tests. Let’s go.
Some Commonly Conducted Packaging Tests
Impact Test
This test is performed using UEC’s impact tester to determine the impact strength of the packaging box. Wooden, plastic, and cardboard containers can also be tested for impact strength.
Puncture Test
The next is the puncture test which is mostly preferred in the packaging industry. This test determines the resistance of the package/box against puncture. Punctures are prone to happen during handling and shipping. To prevent the box and inside products from getting damaged, this test is performed using a puncture resistance tester.
Vibration Test
The vibration test is another widely used packaging test. Here, the vibration resistance of the package or product is tested in the same conditions and effects as in the transportation. Manufacturers use a package shaker or vibrating table to conduct this test and determine if the box will be able to withstand vibrations during transit.
Scuff Test
Besides the packaging industry, the scuff test also finds application in the printing industry. This test, performed using UEC’s scuff tester is used to determine the abrasion or rub resistance of the cardboard box. Besides, it can also test the scuff resistance of printed paper.
End Note
Good packaging lends protection and security to the packed products during shipping and handling. To ensure good packaging and proper delivery of the product to the customer, manufacturers run tests on the packaging materials.
