Significance of Employee Wellbeing Program

by Happy Being Happy Being App

Every employer should prioritize promoting employee well-being. When discussing employee well-being, employers used to focus on health benefits. Employee wellness is now understood to be more than just the absence of illness among employees. The goal of advancing the health of all employees is known as "employee wellbeing." There are other aspects of well-being that cannot be overlooked when discussing the health and well-functioning of individuals or employees, such as their mental health and their emotional health.

To put it another way, the traditional definition of "employee wellbeing" has expanded to include the provision of medical care for workers. Employee happiness and health are now top priorities for employers, who are taking steps to improve the lives of their workers.

Employee well-being is more important than ever before.

Why Is Employee Wellbeing More Important Than Ever?
When COVID-19 broke out, many companies realized the importance of implementing an Employee Wellbeing Program to boost productivity and thus improve bottom-line results.

Psychologists have specifically warned that quarantine can cause an increase in diseases such as depression or even PTSD. As a result, many employers began meticulously planning their return to work after COVID-19. However, even before COVID-19, employee well-being was a hot topic. Consider why employee well-being is more important than ever before.

1. Lower absenteeism and medical costs
Companies began to realize that preventing issues related to poor employee wellbeing, such as burnout, stress, or illness, was more profitable than dealing with all of these issues after they occurred. The employees' sedentary lifestyle, in particular, raises the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other diseases. Furthermore, employees who say they are frequently or always burned out at work are 63 percent more likely to take sick days. That is, employee happiness is directly related to absenteeism and its cost to employers.

Companies began implementing Employee Wellbeing Program due to their numerous benefits. Employee wellbeing programs can vary in scope and focus, but they have proven to be cost-effective for employers.

2. Greater employee involvement
More than eight out of ten businesses believe that wellness programs improve employee engagement, according to recent research. Having an employee wellness program in place improves the health and happiness of employees, who feel more connected to their coworkers.

Conclusion
All of these factors contribute to higher levels of employee engagement. Employee recognition and good feedback practices, on the other hand, have an impact on employee engagement. When attempting to improve Employee wellness in your organization, make sure you approach it holistically.
