Sightseeing in Darjeeling Observatory hill

by Jaidev Kumar writer
Sightseeing in Darjeeling is all about visiting the Observatory hill Darjeeling is one of the oldest and exquisite sightseeing places. When travelling to this part of the country, carry a list of places to visit and things to see so you make the most of the trip.

The king of hill stations Darjeeling is rightly so called given the beautiful scenic beauty, amazing hills and exquisite sightseeing places like that of observatory hill Darjeeling. If you plan to pack your bags and head out for vacations do not fail to consider this hill station as the ultimate choice, you may have seen people heading to this city often but the common factor doesn’t take away the beauty and richness of it, the best time to bask in the beauty of the hill station would be during the unbearable heat where scorching temperatures dull your senses. It is a perfect holiday spot for families and couples.

Observatory hill Darjeeling gives you a breath-taking view of Mount Kanchenjunga and other snow clad peaks, the time best to visit the hill would be early in the morning just to watch the sunrise, where nature meets beauty and elegance, heaven now has an address! do not worry about travelling as there are many hotels near and in the hill. Being located in Mall area going on foot through the steps would have you halting and buying stuffs from the stalls that encircles this hill and yes it would be around 15 minutes’ walk as no vehicle are allowed up the hill. Apart from the market what you could indulge in here is the Mahakal temple which is a symbol of conviction and faith for both Hindus and Buddhists, glorifying lord Shiva. The monkey here fills in the space of being a typical hill stations but do not panic they are people friendly although a little notorious if you despite the warning signboard choose to carry food items in your hands!

Apart from the Mahakal temple, on walking further up the observatory hill Darjeeling you would locate two other temples that of Sai Baba of Shirdi and Hanuman Temples. Along with the Mahakal temple what you would find here on your way back from the temple is Mahakal Cave and you would have to literally crawl to get inside, it has idols of Durga and Bhagvati Devi plus a Shiva Linga.

The beautiful observatory hill Darjeeling gives a panoramic view of the valley with luscious green tea gardens and Himalayan snow clad peaks, the ten to fifteen minutes’ walk up the observatory hill Darjeeling is prelude to the experience of nature at its best, one of the most beautiful scenic beauty you would ever see!

Other destinations:

Apart from the observatory hill Darjeeling, there are many other destinations that you could visit like that of happy valley tea garden, Tiger hill, rock garden and Ganga Maya park, Bhutia busty monastery, peace pagoda, Darjeeling ropeway that which takes you on a cable car ride through the beautiful snow clad peaks and mountains, beautiful luscious valleys and water falls beneath.

The best time I would say to visit this hill would be around the months of October and November where clear weather and sky conditions would give a coherent view of the beautiful mountains and peaks, otherwise rest of the year proper and clear sights of mountains may depend on the clouds and their appearance.
