One of the definitions (Gage Canadian Dictionary) of 'Success, the gaining of wealth, position, etc'. Basically, the wanted and most wished-for outcome, is good fortune. So, where to begin, with learning to set goals to reach your success story?

A first step to take, is to realize and accept, that success does not mean comparing ourselves to, or striving to equal or surpass, the 1% with millions or billions in their bank accounts. This belief can set one on a treacherous path of believing we are a failure and may result with swimming, in low self esteem. Nobody wants get stuck, in the wheels of depression.

Change your view and look at the other 99% of the population who have found their own degrees of success. Upon closer examination we find they can be attainable and doable. Alright, there is also the minority who are in various states of poverty. Unfortunately, no society is perfect but there are People who work to help bring change for the impoverished, and back up on their feet. It's an area that takes time, effort, knowledge, skills and dedication.

Today, we can take steps to change our tomorrow. Education and literacy begins in school but sometimes, life at home makes this impossible. Refuge for peace of mind, body and spirit requires us to seek shelter elsewhere, leaving our school and education, behind. This is not the end. There are alternative schools that can continue delivering your education and help you reach graduation and your high school diploma.

A youth can sign themself into voluntary care and assigned a foster home. Make a challenge and promise to yourself, to keep school as part of your daily routine. Avoiding drugs and alcohol will help you keep your dream alive, and help in building your own success story. Look past high school, will be college, university or a trade school, depending on the time you want to invest, for your own future life.

Success begins with setting goals. First, schooling and education bringing you literacy, knowledge, skills, and higher reasoning abilities. Choosing a career and post-secondary school, becomes another goal. Take time to explore your prospective career, learn about it's salaries, education requirements, potential 'spin-off' careers. Just research 'job requirements' at online job boards. Keep options open to change careers since we all 'grow' and may need something more fulfilling or challenging.

Furthering your education, will help raise your ability, to reach financial security and improve your quality of life. Yes, setting another goal, is to reach a level where your income is greater than your expenses. If your chosen career is not sufficient there is the option to add a second 'job' on the side for extra cash.

Keep your focus to one goal at a time rather than looking at an overwhelming vision, of your whole life. Keep your life simple, do not make unnecessary complications since life may throw us in all sorts of directions. We don't always have control of situations that may arise.

Success arrives in varying degree's for people. One of the last, long term goals should be, ability to maintain a quality lifestyle for yourself, and ,eventually your own family. It is at this time, upon attaining these goals, you may find yourself, wanting to help others. A normal sign of an evolving human nature, reaching that sense of 'self fulfillment'. Go ahead, write your goals down and start planning your awesome success story.
