Rakesh K Srivastava (Ph.D., FRSM, FRSPH) is a name to reckon with when it comes to academics, research and medicine. He has been serving the field of sciences and has instilled several cornerstones in his decorated career of over 35 years. He is a true prodigy and has contributed immensely and meaningfully through his years of practice and teachings in the field of academics and sciences. Dr. Rakesh Srivastava has done his post-graduation M.Sc. from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. He completed his Ph.D. from University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.  He later completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA, which was later followed by a fellowship at National Research Council, National Academy of Science. His talent finds translation in all the esteemed positions he has held and continues to hold till now and in all the numerous books that he has edited till date.

Dr. Rakesh Srivastava has served as a professor and eminent scientist in major US Universities.  He has been proclaimed as an eminent Scholar by the Kansas Bioscience Authority.  The list of accolades and awards conferred on him is huge and rightly deserved too as he has been a pioneer in some trailblazing subjects when it comes to research.  He has received national merit awards and scholarships during his graduate studies.  He was awarded the Fogarty International Fellowship, National Institutes of Health, and National Research Council Fellowship, National Academy of Sciences, USA, Career Development Award, Department of Defense, US Army, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. The scope of his work is so immense and bright as he has actively taught subjects related to Human Biology, Pharmacology, Principles of Drug Actions, Molecular Cell Biology, Histology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Zoology, Botany, Horticulture, Physiology, Cancer Biology, Toxicology, Endocrinology, Genetics, Cancer Therapeutics, and Anatomy at various high profile institutions and has served in various National and International committees as well. He has also been an advisor to several government agencies. He has rigorously done research on Drug discovery and development, cancer therapy, prevention, diabetes, nutrition, stem cell, autophagy, non-coding RNA, nanotechnology, angiogenesis, metastasis, pharmacology, toxicology, biochemistry. If we look at Dr. Srivastava’s journey, we realize what makes him into this gigantic inspirational professor and scientist who we all know today. Dr. Srivastava did his M.Sc. from Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. He later pursued a Ph.D. from University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. He subsequently went on to pursue a prestigious fellowship at the US National Academy of Sciences.  After that Dr. Srivastava started his journey where he dedicated his life in teaching, service and research. If we look at his professional career too, it is nothing short of an inspiration as well.  He worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD, and as an Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Centre, TX.  Based on his successful academic career, he was quickly promoted to the rank of a full Professor at the same institution.  He then moved to accept the Tyler Endowed Professorship position at the University of Kansas Medical Centre, Kansas City, KS.  During this time, he was also regarded as an Eminent Scholar by the Kansas Bioscience Authority. He worked a Senior Scientist at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City, MO and as a full professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, MO.  Dr. Srivastava works as a professor at the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, and Department of Genetics, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Centre, New Orleans, LA.
