Shirdi is a famous town in Maharashtra and it is very near from Nashik. The serene and holy Shirdi is renowned because of saint Sai Baba. The Sai Baba Mandir is the obvious highlight of the place. In the year 1858, Sai Baba came to Shirdi. After spending long 60 years of his life, he attained salvation (samadhi). Shirdi is a small town but it is bestowed with all the modern virtues. It is a decent and affordable place to enjoy your holiday and fulfil your spiritual pursuits as well. Sai Baba was a spiritual master, his birth details and what religion he was born are still unknown. However, he is deeply respected by devotees of different religions. He came to this place when he was just 16 years old. During that time, some people considered him as a mad person. Sai Baba temple, which is also known as the Samadhi Mandir, is the major attraction of the place. Initially, it was a temple of Muralidhar, but surprisingly the deity turned into an idol of Sai Baba. Since then it is considered as the memorial of Baba. The serenity welcomes you to the complex as you soak in the peaceful ambience. However, you have to wait in the queue to reach the main hall. Aartis are held four times a day. Taking part in the Kakkad Arti around 4 am is the best way to start your day. After visiting the temple, pay a visit to the museum and witness the belongings of Sai Baba. Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Complex, Abdul Baba Cottage, Shani Maharaj Temple, etc. are some of the must seen spots.


Aurangabad Airport is 130 km away from Shirdi and it is the nearest airport. The airport is well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Book air tickets and plan your journey accordingly. Taxis, cabs and buses are available to take you to Shirdi. If you wish to reach Shirdi by train, Kopergaon is the nearest rail head that serves this town. It is 16 km away from Shirdi. Trains to Kopergaon are available from few major cities of the country. Maharashtra State Transport buses are available from Mumbai, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Pune and Kopergaon as well. Shirdi is only 75 km from Nashik.
