by Crystal Car Rentals 4x4 Car Rental Rwanda

Rwanda is a beautiful city in eastern Africa that is famous for lush green areas, beautiful gardens, landscapes, and cultural rituals. It is one of the safest small countries for tourists or solo travelers, and the lowest crime is observed for many years. You need to obtain a visa for visiting the country. Driving a vehicle is permitted only if you have a global license and you need to apply for it. Stringent laws and regulations are instigated by the government to ensure the safety of the residents and foreigners.

Useful tips for driving in Rwanda:

  1. Variety of Topographies: You do not find straight roads in Rwanda; it ranges from clear cemented roads with markers to blurred delineated dirty roads. Small streets are full of red soil and some have open ruts. It is advisable to have a robust vehicle for better driving. In the rainy season, avoid two-wheelers, as open holes are full of water and chances of slithering are very high.
  2. Avoid driving at Night: It is not allowed to drive in the dark, the purpose of this rule is lights are installed only a few streets. Most of the drivers are driving with high beam light, which is dangerous for another vehicle.
  3. Do not rely on Google Maps: Technology is able to show you the shortest path to reach your destination, but in Rwanda, it will not work. The system indicates routes on which you cannot drive the car and it is full of dirt and holes. Relay on these maps in daytime only.
  4. Traffic Issues: Though it is a safe and peaceful city, you have to face traffic in the country. It is advisable to follow local people to find the best possible way to overcome complex situations on the road.
  5. Learn Traffic rules: Traffic rules are a bit different there, follow the rules otherwise pay the fine or ready for imprisonment. Always drive on the right side and police are allowed to check any automobile at any place. Insurance is a mandatory requirement to drive public or private vehicles.
  6. Type of Vehicle: You should rent a car with a pilot if you don’t have a valid license. Before starting the trip, check the license applications for vehicles and other relevant documents to avoid a mess on the way. Decide the type of car as per your luggage and the number of people in a group.

Police and local people are warm and friendly until you are aligned with rules.
