Rust situation and density question for carbon steel pipe

Mechanical properties would be our first lesson before purchasing seamless steel pipe or other welded steel pipe. Today, our main topic would be carbon steel pipe for its mechanical properties, rust situation and density question.

Mechanical properties, such as casting process, segregation, non-metallic inclusions, porosity, shrinkage and cracks, should be checked out carefully before purchase.

For rust situation, we should figure out that carbon steel pipe would be with a high corrosion resistance and adhesion. Under this situation, it would service for human beings with long time. Of course, no harmful substances for steel pipes would be the first step before production.

Talking about density, we should know that it is calculated by dividing the mass by the volume. The density of carbon steel is approximately 7.85 g/cm3 (0.284 lb/in3).
