-On-bill financing model: In this respective model residents get the option of installing rooftop panels and hence can apply for a loan from third-party lenders and later repay it through monthly electricity bill.

-Solar partners model: In this model, rooftop owners sign public-private agreements with developers who come and install the systems, which leaves the consumers. They can subscribe for the solar electricity generated and pay their share as per usage.

Moreover, net metering solar systems are installed on the rooftop of industries and residential houses hence they don't require large tracts of land like their solar park cousins.

Also, as they use the state-owned power grid as a giant battery, the requirement of battery backup is not there to balance out the power consumption through day and night. Hence, it reduces the expenditure on installation.
