At the time of getting divorced, custody of the child becomes the top priority of each parent. Who will get the child after the divorce, and for how long, is a very sensitive subject that is always very near as well as dear to the hearts of almost all the parents. When a couple appears in court for deciding on the custody of their child, the judge generally awards either joint or sole legal custody, or joint or sole physical custody. At such time, the visitation time, that is granted by the court is generally equal or given primarily to any one parent.

When a parent loses custody of the child, it clears that he/she have lost means both physical custody and/or joint legal. Many times people don’t hire any child custody attorney, to help them guide the best. The lack of guidance and documents and incomplete requirements becomes the major cause behind losing child custody. The reason that causes the parents to lose custody is many. Here are some of the most common reasons because of which a parent could lose custody of the child.

Disobeying the Orders of the Court:-

When the court-ordered anything to the parents, it becomes not just important but also the responsibility of both the parent to obey and fully it completely. But when any parent fails to obey the court order, it is considered disrespectful by the court, and for which sometimes the responsible parent also has to face jail along with a big loss in the custody case. Such conditions are applied to both the parents at each aspect like drop off the child and pick up him/her on time as per the court instructions until the custody case is in processing or pending.

Domestic Violence:-

Another reason because of which many parents lose their child's custody is domestic violence. In some custody or divorce cases, domestic violence is the main issue. When the father of a child abuses the other parent of the child, then this becomes a reason due to which a father loses his child's custody. The allegations of domestic violence are taken by the court very seriously and demand proof before issuing any decision regarding child custody. Abusing the parent, another child in the house, partner, or anyone else is a clear indication that the person is not emotionally stable to keep the child safe.

History of Bad Behavior:-

A parent can lose child custody because of his/her lack of emotional control and history of bad behavior. If a parent has an anger issue or has a history of acting erratically, impulsively, etc. they have fewer chances of getting the child custody. To such parents, courts generally grant less visitation time.

Child abuse:-

When a parent physically, sexually, or emotionally abuses the child, there are high chances that he/she will lose custody. Child abuse also counts, allowing anyone else to abuse the child. If any parent has any wrong allegations of child abuse, by the other parent, then they must take the help of a professional child custody attorney to show them the right path and help him/her in removing the allegations to get the custody.

Negligence:-

As per the court requirements and rules under child custody, negligence is considered as a form of inaction that is highly harmful to children. Negligence is usually taken as a form of abuse, and a failure to act properly and quickly in a time of need. This negligence also covers the failure or inability of the parent to provide a safe as well as clean living environment along with the basic necessities of life.
