Reasons for the increasing use of ready mix concrete in modern-day infrastructure

by Jimmy O. Blogger

Modern-day infrastructure is incomplete without ready mix concrete. No matter what kind of building you are going to construct as a construction contractor, the use of ready mix concrete is one of the most significant parts of the Ready Mix Concrete. In this day & age, the construction industry and ready mix concrete are intimately connected.

The use of the mortar has now become the thing of the past – it was decades or even centuries back in the olden days when people had no option but to use the mortar. The construction industry now necessarily and effectively loves to make use of ready mix concrete since it gives way more strong and durable results especially in multiple-story constructions or buildings.

Ready-mix concrete as the chief ingredient

However, the possibility of using the mortar is still in vogue but not in urban areas. Some people still use the mortar for a single-story building, etc. In today’s construction industry, ready mix concrete has entirely changed the scenario making concrete the best option for all kinds of domestic or commercial buildings. Those who do not agree - with what I have said based on my personal experience as a veteran of construction, contractors have to face heavy odds down the road.

The time has come to accept the ready mix concrete as the chief ingredient accounting for 50 of the total cost of building material. Rather than getting into complex technical & chemical details about why it is better to use the concrete, it is advisable to understand the foremost distinction between the mortar and the mixed concrete.

The mortar is weaker than the concrete!

Put simply, the mortar is weaker than the concrete or the concrete is stronger than the mortar, so the ball is in your court. In the availability of a stronger material, it makes no sense to take the risk of using mortar made of sand components. Yes! That’s a fact and it should not come as a surprise to you! For me, as a veteran, honest construction contractor, it is not logical to make use of the sand in terms of the sole aggregate even though we may agree to differ.

A mix of 4 ingredients

Conversely, the concrete material is a mix of 4 ingredients & they are water, crushed stone, sand, and cement. So, before using the mortar, you are supposed to think twice especially when you are responsible for constructing a building in a busy urban area. This is because of the concrete usage that has made the modern-day infrastructure dependable, durable, and strong, more than ever in the history of the construction industry.

The idea of using any other option

The idea of using any other option in this modern-day construction is somewhat ridiculous! Look at the underway construction work anywhere, and you will see the contractors using concrete rather than mortar or something else. Concrete has become the most basic material in the modern-day infrastructure when talking about the construction of any form such as flyovers, basements, flooring, sidewalks, pathways, and roads.
