by Shivani Sachdev Founder & Director

IVF is a very common process that is used for the people who are unable to conceive a child naturally. Most of the people who come to do the IVF process have tried a natural way and many other methods. In all of these methods, they have waited for a long time with the hope of getting pregnant.

This is the most obvious for which people want to know how much time the IVF process takes. The time taking process depends on the type and many other factors of the IVF process.

Why is the IVF process long?

The process of IVF contains many different stages; most of them are very time-consuming. Without fertility testing, the treatment is not completed. So, you will need to do tests such as egg quality testing, semen analysis, uterine cavity evaluation, and many more.

To make sure that you are healthy at the time of the treatment you will have to do

some medical evaluation such as blood sugar, generic risks, medical conditions, lifestyle changes and many more. It will help you to conceive the baby in the future. This health checkup and tests take 90 days, but the whole process can take up to 4 months.

Why is a 90-day Is health regiment important?

The process might be very time consuming, but it is very crucial in the treatment of the IVF. Any small changes before the treatment can affect the treatment very seriously. The monitoring and restrictions help to prepare the parents and increase the chances of conceiving the child. Mostly the program is given by physicians that include many different things such as prenatal vitamins, lower intake of alcohol, the balance of eating with a diet, and improving sleeping.

Apart from this, you have to drink water frequently and increase the quantity of intake, low impact exercise, and leaving smoking will help you very much to prepare for the treatment. Leaving any of these can affect the pregnancy very much.

Stages of IVF

The stage of the IVF treatment takes a lot of time, but they are also very important. Let's find out about the different stages and the reasons for consuming time.

     Oral Contraceptives

In the first stage of the IVF treatment, the patients will have to take oral contraceptives for around 14-15 days. After these 15 days, the medication of IVF will start to process. You have to take your time to do this process because the oral contraceptives increase the number of eggs, before the ovarian stimulation.

     Medication

This part of the process takes up to 11 days, but this part is also very crucial in the IVF treatment process. In this stage, the injections and medications help to mature the follicles where the eggs are stored with the help of hormones.

Retrieval of the Egg and the embryo transfer

This whole process takes up to 5 days and in this process, the eggs are taken out from the womb to get fertilized in the lab. The embryo transfer happens on day 6 when the embryo is put back in the womb.

After the whole procedure, you will have to wait again to let the egg mature and grow into a baby.

These are some of the main reasons for time-consuming IVF treatment. But all of them are very important, and time might vary on different factors of the patient.
