Realistic Approach to Choosing a Profession

Nowadays people often talk about things like ‘dream job’ and ‘personal fulfillment’. Almost everyone dreams to work in fashion, catering or hotel industry, one in two sees him-/herself as successful photographer, designer, musician or film director. To make things even worse, social media covers the above mentioned desirable trades as an object of envy, ignoring how challenging a profession of microbiologist or aircraft designer can be. And what about people, whose professional activity is not even a challenge? Let’s be realistic and face it, life would be impossible without mechanichians, medical nurses, counter-jumpers, concierges and track-drivers. Isn’t it a bit absurd and ridiculous to put a freeze on people who make those simple things in your daily routine work, like serving you in supermarket or fixing a car? So let’s never ever be judgmental.

The generation before us had a bit different scheme of values. Our parents just wanted to earn their comfort living, and in preference their expectations were repaid over and above. We were brought up in more peaceful and well off time, with more exciting future plans. And it’s great to have ambitions: no outstanding personality has ever been raised without them. What we need is more tolerance and sincerity to ourselves. If you adore cinema but have no ideas for shooting movies, try to write annotations. A person with legal education and passion for culinary can succeed as company lawyer in catering industry. When choosing a job, think of your professional abilities that could benefit in a sphere of your personal interest.

If you study at university now, remember, it’s never late to realize yourself unsatisfied with a chosen specialty. The fact is that an average high-school student can have a faint idea of a profession mostly utilizing his skills and making his bread. When you graduate and get your first job, you’ll see how quickly everyone forgets about learning successes of the employees. No, I would never advise you to give up studying. It trains your memory, makes you more patient and industrious – but be realistic when organizing priorities. Buried under bulks of books, a student can have a feeling that writing another academic paper is the most important challenge in his/her life and it’s a common mistake. Probably you could trust this paper stuff to on-line services like bestessay4u and find yourself a part-time job? You’ll kill two birds with one – get real working experience and verify if this profession really suits you. The sooner you understand the better!

Be open-minded, patient and ready to work hard. Good luck!
