Ralphs Story
It all began in the year 1949. It was a year for storms and I'm sure through the turmoil there were breaks where the sun shone through if only momentarily. The year was progressing and it was June and clouds were getting thicker and thunder was heard in the distance. There was a flash of lighning and then another and then a steady downpour, rain at first and then mixed with hail as big as your fingernail and pelting you as you hurried for shelter.
Most knew what to expect next and as sure as the sunshines every day somewhere we felt in our hearts a storm was brewing. Wind was beginning to pick up and at first it was just a rustle in the leaves of poplar trees now in full array. Then as day darkened with even heavier clouds but faster moving clouds the wind began to howl like a pack of hungry wolves on a formidable hunt. Everyone was hurrying to fasten down shutters and pick up loose debri that might get picked up and hurled at you or through a forgotten window bared to the storm.
The storm kept picking up more and more and trees began to sway and leaves rended from branches way to early in the season and branches at first weakened ones from storms past and now even the strong ones were bending yes breaking because nothing could stand this hurricane of forceful power. It kept hurling everything in it fast forward like a whirlwind a spinning top , a tornado ripping even the roofs of houses were taking severe damage.
It was nearing midnight or slightly past when suddenly a women cried out in pain of birth and behold a male child was born and the storm quieted and a lull set in and the full moon glowed and all was well once again in the world of mankind. This person born was nothing great but it happened and in birth pangs perhaps it was a hurricane within the woman to whom the birth pangs were at full tilt.
