Radar Level Transmitters From Nagman Flow

by Nagmanflow L. water Meter Test Bench, Flow Meter

RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) is a device that can spot the presence of distant objects by obtaining a replication of electromagnetic waves produced from the device itself.

Though invented much earlier, wide disposition of radar was done by Britain during the Second World War to perceive approaching German bombers.

Originally, radar was installed for military purposes and weather conditions forecasting. Recently radar principle is used for engineering applications also.

Radar Level Transmitters is grounded on the ‘time of flight’ principle. It contains electronics housed in inclusion and a waveguide i.e. probe to direct the radio wave into the development media.

Small energy electromagnetic pulses of 1 GHz from the electronics are diffused along with the probe which journeys down along the probe at the speed of light into the process media and their partial energy is replicated back to the sensor circuitry.

The strength of reflection rest on the dielectric constant value of the media. The electronics calculates the time delay between transmitted and reflected signal and compute the distance of the surface of process media using a formula.

The Radar Level Transmitter is programmed with tank height and the corresponding level is calculated by the microprocessor.

Non-contact radar transmitter uses a high-frequency microwave signal of 26 GHz which is transferred via an antenna in the direction of the product surface. Its frequency surges linearly during the measurement.

The signal is redirected back to the antenna from the surface of process media and established at the time-delayed frequency.

The variance is calculated from fixed transmitting frequency and received frequency which is directly proportional to distance to the liquid surface commencing from the antenna.

The frequency of non- contact radar level transmitter effects on the routine of the level transmitters. Lesser frequency surges the beam width and lessens the sensitivity due to vapour, foam, and deposition on the antenna.

With advanced frequency, the beam width is narrowed which diminishes the influence of nozzle, wall and tank internals.
