Quick Fixes for 6 Hair Disasters

by Alana Jones Content WRiter
Hair problems are one thing; hair disasters are another. The latter can happen anywhere, anytime, with no mercy about the embarrassment they can cause.

However, smart women are pros at fixing hair disasters. Here are some that can give you nightmares, but intelligent handling can fix them easily.

When Hair Color Goes Wrong

You finally got your tresses colored after fantasizing yourself with your desired look. Yet, when the deed is done, you get the shock of your life. The mirror does not show what you desired; it shows your hair in a complete mess.

What you should do:

• If you have lightened your hair and it has gone horribly wrong, choose a darker shade to cover it up. Talk to your stylist about it.

• If you wish to lighten too dark of a hair color, use a clarifying shampoo, and wash hair frequently, along with performing hot coconut-oil massages.

• Use an ammonia-free hair color. Before applying, test it on a strand.

• Oil your tresses regularly after color treatment, whether light or dark. This is because the treatment leads to protein breakdown of hair. This can render it rough or brittle.

• Avoid any chemical procedure on hair for about six months after a hair coloring procedure.

• Deep condition your hair once in a while. Invest in a superior-quality sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner that are meant for color-treated hair.

When a Haircut Goes Wrong

You cannot reverse the process. If you have chopped off your hair to get a short style, you simply may have to wait till your hair grows back. Meanwhile, you can use fashionable scarves or hats to hide the flawed hairstyle.

Use decorative pins and clips to adorn your hair. If the hair is of shoulder length, tie it in a ponytail, or be creative with braids.

In case you have a long hairstyle, ask the stylist whether she can give you another cut to fix the wrong one.

Be patient, and avoid the urge of tearing your hair out. Hair will grow back. This is not the end of the world.

When Your Hair Gets Burned

Tresses that get burned due to harsh chemicals or fire can be fixed with an intelligent haircut. If your hair is already short, you must wait till it grows back. Till then, use bandanas, scarves, and hats to hide the damaged hair.

Remember to oil your hair frequently. Use a leave-in conditioner daily to soothe your hair. Avoid trying to fix burned hair by exposing it to other harsh treatments or products. It is already in shock. Allow it to come out of its situation.

When Your Hair Is Dead

Well, hair is dead, medically speaking, but in this case “dead” means hair gone lifeless and dull. This is usually the consequence of excessive use of heat styling and harsh, chemical-laden hair products. So, as experts put it, it is your own doing.

What you should do:

• Avoid hot blow dryers, hot irons, straightening rods, and other such heat stylers for some time.

• Use a shampoo and conditioner meant especially for dry and damaged hair.

• Use an egg mask on your hair every week.

• Give your scalp regular warm oil massages, preferably coconut oil. • Avoid chemical treatments and other hair procedures no matter how much they tempt you or how trendy they are this season.

When Chewing Gum Gets Stuck in Your Tresses

Yuck, this can be a sticky problem! You need not chop of your tresses, as commonly believed.

Do this: apply coconut oil on the gummy strands. The gum will peel off easily. You also can slather lots of moisturizing cream on the strands in case you are out of oil.

When Your Hair Looks as If It Received an Electric Shock

You must attend an important boardroom meeting, and your hair refuses to do what you want. It simply won’t style as you wish. This happens particularly during humid weather. Frizz sets in. Hair loses its natural moisture, and cuticles crack, giving your hair a shocked look.

The first thing to do is oil it properly. Let your hair soak in the oiliness. Leave the on oil overnight, or let it stay on for a couple of hours. Wash your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo. Use a rich conditioner. Leave it for about 5 to 7 minutes. Rinse off.

Avoid tying your hair in a tight hairstyle. Let it loose. Choose the best haircuts for thick, coarse hair. Your hair dresser can help in this. A wrong haircut can complicate things. According to hair experts, it is essential to invest money and time in getting the correct haircut that suits your face and personality.

Also, as experts say, smart women always must have access to tips for fixing hair disasters. Hair is dead, but it plays a vital role in giving life to your personality. Moreover, the roots are alive. So, all care and repair start from the roots.
