Quantity Of Toothpaste Recommended For Kids Under The Age Of Six Years

by Dolly K. Digital Marketing Executive

When we are thinking of ensuring the healthiness of our children, consuming a diet filled with fruits and vegetables, remaining active and going for regular doctor visits comes to mind. But pediatric dental care is one of the important parts of your child development.

With so many online sources parents have with them, it is important to find information that is as accurate as convenient. Each child is indeed unique but there are some of the helpful guidelines one should follow at each stage of a child’s dental development.

Just like adults, kids are also highly susceptible to tooth decay. As per ADA, 25% of children have a cavity by the time they go to kindergarten. Fluoride is one of the naturally occurring minerals that is found in public drinking water. It is also now added in several kinds of toothpaste.

It helps in strengthening the hard outer layer of the teeth known as enamel. Thus fluoride becomes one of the important substances for your child's teeth and it is required to keep them healthy and strong. But as we know that not all tap and bottled water contain fluoride, therefore your child should use toothpaste that contains fluoride.

As per new guidance for children under the age of three years, brushing with a smear of fluoride-containing toothpaste is good. The amount should not be more than a grain of rice. You should brush your teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once in the night. When your child turns three, it is recommended that you should continue brushing your child teeth twice a day but now with a tad larger portion of fluoride toothpaste that is the size of a pea.

Along with that, parental supervision while the child is brushing teeth is also required to keep them informed as well as confident that they are doing it right. You must brush your child teeth until they are six or seven years of age because they lack the required coordination. No matter whether you are just starting to brush your child's teeth or you are in a stage of monitoring their habits, ensure you are always using the correct products and toothpaste along with the correct quantity of toothpaste.

It will help in the prevention of tooth decay and cavities and fluoride also assist in remineralizing the tooth.
