Pushkar Camel Fair - 2014 in Rajasthan, India

The Pushkar Camel Fair is the most prominent religious and livestock festivals held every year in India. With over 50,000 camels and tens of thousands of other cattle, the festival in recent years has been the subject of intense interest by news media as well as tourists who visit the festivities to gain unique insight of traditional Indian and Rajasthani culture.

Pushkar Camel Fair Schedule 2014:

Oct 28^th through Nov 1^st: Pushkar Cattle Fair. This is when most of the Pushkar Fair activities with the villagers, camels, horses and other cattle will take place - the cattle trading, the Easy Tours of India sponsored camel races, as well as various other shows and competitions. The best days are going to be the October 31^st and November 1^st , so we have designed most of our tour itineraries to be in Pushkar during these days.

Nov 2^nd through Nov 4^th: Pushkar Cultural Fair. This is when all the government sponsored cultural activities will take place. There will be folk dance shows, music performances, and other similar activities. Please bear in mind that you will get to experience (much more comfortably) similar performances at a number of the hotels we use during your exploration of India. Most agencies take you to the Pushkar Fair on these dates despite the fact that a majority of the cattle and villagers have already left Pushkar.

Nov 5^th Pushkar Festival: This is the Holy Day of the Fair and thousands of Hindu pilgrims will take a dip in the holy lake at Pushkar.
