The Public Service Commission across various states of India conduct exams and recruit eligible people for number of posts, primarily in the concerned state government. For example, The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) etc. These bodies have been an integral part in recruiting eligible professionals in various esteemed posts under their jurisdiction, since decades.

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) came into existence in the year 1956, under section 118(2) of Reorganization Act of 1956. It is a well constructed body headed by a chairman. Currently, Shri. A.K. Pandey is in charge of this coveted board as the Chairman. Recruitment to the State Services under this board is made through -
* Direct Selection.
* Promotions.
* Transfer of services on deputation from one department to another or from one state government to another.
In 1935, under the Government of India act, provision was made for the first time for the formation Public Service Commission at the provincial level. As a result, on the 1st of April, 1937, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) was formed with its headquarters at Allahabad. Only 9.811 applicants appeared for the first ever exam conducted by the commission in 1937. Since then, the workload has been increasing continuously and presently lakhs of candidates apply each year. Keeping this is mind the commission has increased its manpower. The number of members in the commission at present is eight. The working of the commission is regulated by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulation, 1976.
The A.P. Public Service Commission came into existence on 1st November, 1956 with the formation of the State of Andhra Pradesh. Before this, there was Andhra Public Service Commission in the Andhra State and Hyderabad Public Service Commission in the Hyderabad State. It had been established under the Article 315 of the Constitution of India. The Commission is regulated by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations introduced in the year 1963. At present, the commission is headed by the Chairperson Smt. Rachel Chatterjee(IAS, Retd.).

The above discussed commissions are some well maintained, well run organizations and they have been playing a significant role in selecting eligible individuals for the all important jobs under the state government of various states. And we believe, they will continue to do so.
