The definition of wedding photography has changed a lot in the last few years as more and more couples opt for candid photo shoots rather than a traditional wedding album with posed images. Growing demand for professional wedding photographers in Mumbai is a clear indication that modern couples don’t wish to compromise on who clicks photos on their special day. 

Most wedding photographers are independent business owners whereas some are employed with event management companies that are hired for organizing wedding parties. As an independent business owner, they make good money if they are well-established in this profession. However, the money is somewhat mitigated by long working hours, equipment costs and expenses incurred on marketing and advertising. Rather than a traditional album they are going for unique images that tell a story about their chemistry and love. Many couples are even spending money on a pre-wedding photo shoot in which the photographer clicks images of the couple in a different location such as the terrace of a hotel, a historical monument, a hotel lobby and so on.  Some even take the photographer to an exotic location for such photo shoots. 

Compared to a fashion photographer, product photographer or a model portfolio photographer, wedding photography is a more profitable venture. It is a relatively low cost entry to the world of photography.  

Be prepared to experience exhausting shooting schedules because Indian weddings are a lengthy affair, involving four to five days of celebrations and different ceremonies such as sangeet and mehendi. You will have to make necessary preparations before handling a wedding photo shoot. It helps to sit with the bride and groom and understand their requirements to shoot photos as per their satisfaction.
