PRINCE2 Training

PRINCE2 means project in controlled environment. PRINCE2 is a structured method for effective project management. It is a De Facto standard used extensively used by the uk government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the uk and internationally.

PRINCE2 certification  may be used for any type of project in any type of environment; however it remains flexible enough to be applied to all sizes of projects and can be tailored to suit a project dependent on the circumstances.

The Quality theme defines the PRINCE2 approach to ensuring that the project’s products:

•          Meet business expectations

•          Enable the desired benefits to be achieved subsequently.

The ’product focus’ principle is central to PRINCE2’s approach to quality. It provides an explicit common understanding of what the project will create (the scope) and the criteria against which the project’s products will be assessed (the quality). Without this understanding, the project would be exposed to major risks (such as acceptance disputes, rework, uncontrolled change, user dissatisfaction) that could weaken or invalidate the Business Case.

The Quality theme also covers the implementation of continuous improvement during the project – for example, looking for ways to introduce more efficiency or effectiveness into the management of the project and the project’s products. Capturing and acting on lessons contributes to the PRINCE2 quality approach, as it is a means of achieving continuous improvement.

PRINCE2  foundation does not define management jobs to be allocated on a one-to-one basis to people. PRINCE defines roles which might be allocated, shared, divided or combined according to the project’s needs. Associated with this is the concept that responsibilities for a role can be moved to another role or delegated, but they should not be dropped. Some of the PRINCE2 roles cannot be shared or delegated if they are to be undertaken effectively. The Project Manager role cannot be shared, nor can the Project Manager or Project Board roles be delegated.

PRINCE2 is designed to be used on any type of project in any environment. It contains a complete set of concepts and project management processes that are the minimum requirements for a properly run and managed project. However, the way PRINCE2 is applied to each project will vary considerably, and tailoring the method to suit the circumstances of a particular project is critical to its successful use.

PRINCE2 projects are always focused on delivering specified products to meet a specified Business Case. There will be many higher level issues surrounding the project. These will need to be dealt with by other methods and approaches, such as programme management. PRINCE2 is aimed at the middle ground between these higher level, more strategic, issues and the specialist production processes underneath project management.

There are many organisations providing training, consultancy and tools services for PRINCE, thus ensuring a competitive supply. In addition, there is an active user group dedicated to the support, promotion and strengthening of the method.
