The active ingredients of Premarin Vaginal Cream 14 gm are Conjugated Estrogens, which is a blend of estrogens that can help rebuild vaginal tissue that can change after menopause when estrogen has decreased or stopped its production. The medicine is mainly used for atrophic vaginitis treatment and also the treatment of severe to moderate dyspareunia.

Uses

Premarin vaginal 0.625 mg/ gm cream is used to treat Premarin vaginal 0.625 mg/ gm cream deficiency symptoms in women after menopause. It is also used as hormone replacement therapy in women who have had their womb/uterus removed (hysterectomy) and are at increased risk of developing osteoporosis (fragile bones).

·         This medicine is for use in the vagina only. Do not take by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Use at bedtime unless otherwise directed by your doctor or health care professional. Use the special applicator supplied with the cream. Wash hands before and after use. Fill the applicator with the cream and remove from the tube. Lie on your back, part and bend your knees. Insert the applicator into the vagina and push the plunger to expel the cream into the vagina. Wash the applicator with warm soapy water and rinse well. Use exactly as directed for the complete length of time prescribed. Do not stop using except on the advice of your doctor or health care professional. 

·       Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

A patient package insert for the product will be given with each prescription and refill. Read this sheet carefully each time. The sheet may change frequently.

Premarin vaginal cream contains 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogen that is available in a 14gm of the tube. For the treatment of atrophic vaginitis apply 0.5gm vaginally approximately for a cycle of 21 days. After that take an off of 7 days and after 28 days again start the dose. For treating other menopausal symptoms take 0.5mg of Premarin vaginal cream vaginally twice in a week or daily for a period of 21 days. Do not apply a dose more than what is recommended to you.

  Do not use Premarin if you are allergic to any of the component present in this medication.

 If you are suffering from any bleeding disorders or any blood clotting disorder then do not use Premarin vaginal cream.

If you have vaginal or uterine bleeding of an unknown cause or are suffering from carcinoma of the breast then stay away from Premarin vaginal cream.

·         Do not smoke or consume alcohol while using Premarin vaginal cream.

·         Make sure your hands are clean before applying Premarin vaginal tablets.

·         Do not increase the frequency of dosing or the dose of Premarin vaginal cream without consulting your doctor first.

·         Do not apply any other vaginal cream, any intimate hygiene wash or lubricant along with the use of Premarin vaginal cream.

·         Pregnant women and lactating mothers should stay away from Premarin vaginal cream

·         A woman who has not yet reached the menopausal phase should never apply premarin vaginal cream.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose. Do not use double or extra doses.

In case of an overdose of Conjugated Estrogens, get urgent medical attention or call the Doctor immediately. Overdose of Conjugated Estrogens may includes nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, drowsinwss/fatigue, breast tenderness or vaginal bleeding.

The most common Premarin Cream side effects are abdominal pain, back pain, breast tenderness, hair loss, headache, infection, nausea, vaginitis, vomiting, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as breast pain, chest pain, confusion, first migraine, irregular heartbeat, numbness, unusual vaginal bleeding, vision changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Do NOT Use Premarin Vag Cream if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Premarin medication. Before using Premarin Vaginal, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as blood clotting, dementia, diabetes, epilepsy or seizure disorder, fibroids, gallbladder, heart problems, high cholesterol, hormone-dependent cancer, liver or kidney disease, vaginal bleeding, water retention, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Premarin drug, especially of: antidiabetic, barbiturates, blood pressure-lowering, corticosteroids, carbamazepine, meprobamate, phenylbutazone, phenytoin, rifampin, ritonavir, St. John's wort, topiramate, warfarin, and etc. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

·         Do not use more than the prescribed dosage.

·         Do not use Premarin Vaginal Cream on advice of a friend or family. Similarly, do not give it to someone you feel has the same symptoms.

·         Always check for expiry on the package or with the pharmacist before buying Premarin Vaginal Cream.

·         Store Premarin Vaginal Cream at room temperature & avoid direct exposure to heat & sunlight
