by Shipra Sharma Kidney Treatment in Ayurveda
Polycystic kidney disease is a hereditary kidney disorder. It has two different types’- autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease and autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease. ADPKD / Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is caused by a genetic mutation of the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). DNA of a person defines his body built, height, complexion etc. Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease or ADPKD develops tiny fluid-filled sacs commonly known as cysts, on the kidneys lining, starting from the inner lining of the organ. Children are the most affected beings of ADPKD. They develop the disease right after their birth.
However, initially, no noticeable signs are seen until the disease advances and start affecting the kidney functions.

The advancement of polycystic kidney disease, autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease grows multiple symptoms. All these signs become chronic and start affecting the real kidney function. Below is are some listed symptoms of ADPKD

• Hypertension
• Abdominal pain

ADPKD is developed due to problems in the genes of the DNA that further disrupts the normal growth of the kidney cells and tends to produce cysts. The predicament found in one out of two genes increases the chances of developing the condition of ADPKD. The affected genes are PKD1, commonly seen a case in 85% of patients, and PKD2, that accounts for 15% of cases. The symptoms that are developed in PKD1 are more severe/ or of great intensity than in PKD2.

This is further explained in the following way if one of the parents has a faulty gene of PKD1 or PKD2 gene, this then increases 50% chances for the child/ their offspring to develop ADPKD.
