The key thing to work out before you can really begin to make arrangements for your wedding day is the numbers for your guest list. Your venue choice and budget per head will be dependent on the quantity of people you plan to invite, so this is crucial.

Organising your wedding guest list is no easy task and it can create a big headache for the majority of couples, so set aside ample time to work through this process.

If you already have a significant, or special venue in mind where you want to hold your event, it is a good idea to make some enquiries about the capacity, because if you have chosen a small scale venue you will need to tailor your numbers accordingly. Hiring a venue that suits the quantity of people you are inviting is a crucial element of creating a comfortable atmosphere. A venue which is so big that it makes guests look and feel a bit lost is as much of a problem as one which is cramped or too small.

There are a wide variety of different types of venues for couples to choose from now in addition to a church or a registry office. Lots of couples want the more unusual locations for their wedding day whilst others are keen on a more traditional setting. Try not to choose a venue you are not too keen on to keep others happy and concentrate on choosing a location you both love instead.

Wherever you decide to hold your event, you should book your date well in advance to avoid disappointment, because the most popular venues generally have extremely long waiting lists and you may struggle to get dates you want otherwise. For a summer or spring event, the best dates are going to be crucial, particularly if you plan to use an outside area.

A wedding requires a great deal of organisation as there are so many reservations and bookings to be made with a variety of businesses and individuals and everything needs to coordinate without any glitches. Organising a wedding day is quite a juggling act with so many decisions to make and can feel like a real pressure.

It can be a big mistake to book anything of commit to leaving any deposits, before you have checked that your date will be suitable for all of the key guests and businesses you want present. Communicate with immediate family, your preferred photographer and catering company first to make sure they will be available on the date you are booking. 

Detailed lists are invaluable to assist you to keep up with what you have done already and keep on top of what still needs to be arranged or organised to eliminate last minute stress and it is also a good idea to get plenty of ideas and advice from other people. A well planned wedding has the best chance of being a success and providing you with many fantastic memories.
