Planning For Your Baby’s First Air Flight

One thing that you will need in plenty is baby diapers. Check out the different deals and buy baby diapers online in India before your trip. You don't want to fall short of diapers. You may not get the same diaper brand at your destination even when you are going abroad. So keep an extra stock of the diaper brand which is best for your baby.

We all look forward to family trips and your baby’s first journey is surely an exciting event. You want to have a great time with your angel, making lifetime memories. With all the amazing baby care products available today like newborn baby diapers, formula feeds, baby carrier, baby foods, etc. planning a trip even with your newborn isn't a challenge anymore. But traveling via airplane can make babies cranky and irritable. A situation which no parent wants to experience. But a little bit of knowledge and preparation beforehand will help you ensure that your baby is comfortable during the air flight and you are at ease.

1. Air flights can be a bit difficult for babies as the change in air pressure during and landing can cause ear discomfort and pain. During takeoff and landing nursing your baby, bottle feeding or giving the baby a pacifier is a good idea as it helps release pressure from the ears. Avoid feeding your baby before the flight. Plan it such that the baby is hungry during the time of takeoff. This will make it easy for you to breastfeed or bottle feed the baby.

2. It's your first trip with the little one, so choose a destination with a short duration flight. If your little one gets cranky a couple of hours will still be manageable.

3. It is better to take the aisle seat so you can carry your baby across if the baby starts crying. However, the window seat gives you more privacy and space to breastfeed your baby conveniently. Decide what option will work best for you depending on the size of your family and your baby’s age and temperament.

4. Always keep the baby essentials in the hand baggage. Estimate the number of diapers you will need for the trip and buy diapers accordingly beforehand. You don't want to go shopping for diapers at the last moment. Carefully pack your baby bag with a good number of diaper pants, baby wipes, baby bibs, sanitizer, and extra clothing for the baby and yourself too in case the baby vomits on you. Instead of putting the bag in the overhead cabin, keep the baby bag under the front seat for easy access. Do not forget to keep a blanket for the baby, as the temperature in the plane is kept low and it will be cold for the baby.

5. Check for bassinet facility when you book airline tickets. Most airlines offer bassinet or cot for babies up to two years of age. Check with the airline if it has to book or is a free facility. Your baby can conveniently sleep in the bassinet, so it makes sense to book it or reach early if its availability is on first come first serve basis.

6. Don’t forget to keep your baby’s toys, rattles, book or I-pad to keep the baby involved. A lot of times babies just cry of boredom, so make sure you are carrying things to keep your baby distracted with fun activities.
